The Mission Space Genie 24″ Special Needs Folding Tricycle is a stable, comfortable folding tricycle designed for teen and adult riders who may benefit from a low step-over frame and additional positioning support. Its tubular steel folding frame allows the tricycle to fold for easier transportation, while the adjustable saddle and handlebars accommodate a range of rider sizes. Special Needs Options:
The 24″ model can be configured with several support options. The BikeHighway listing currently offers a backrest with side supports, shoulder and waist safety belts, lumbar support with a four-point harness, Lycra back support, a saddle with an incorporated backrest, and a wide saddle with lumbar support and four-point harness. Optional dual-function brake levers can also be configured so that one lever operates both brakes from either the left or right side.
Assembly: The BikeHighway listing states that the tricycle requires some assembly and preferably should be assembled by a trained cycle mechanic. Mission Cycles’ own standard Space Genie page, however, describes its UK-sold version as fully built and ready to ride, so the assembly condition may depend on how the unit is supplied for the U.S. market.
Important correction: The manufacturer confirms that the 24″ Space Genie uses Shimano 6-speed gearing. This is different from the 16″ Special Needs Genie we looked at earlier, which uses a single-speed drivetrain.
